Not Enough Space on the Hard Drive

During certain types of recordings, RecordNow! will copy the source disc and temporarily store its contents as an image file on an available hard drive. To avoid recording errors, make sure you have enough space on your hard drive to store the image.

To determine how much space you have available on your hard drive:

  1. Double-click My Computer.
  2. Right-click the hard drive icon, then select Properties.
  3. Note the amount of free space Windows reports.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for any additional hard drives on your computer.

Depending on the type of recording and the size of the source disc, your hard drive should have between 100 MB and 5 GB of free space.

If your hard drive does not have enough free space, follow these suggestions:

Empty the Recycle Bin

  1. Double-click the Recycle Bin icon on your Windows desktop.
  2. Select the files you want to delete, then choose File > Delete from the menu bar.

Run Disk Cleanup

Disk Cleanup is a Windows utility that helps you remove unneeded files from your hard drive. To start Disk Cleanup, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Windows Start button, go to All Programs / Accessories / System Tools, then click Disk Cleanup.
  2. Follow the instructions to clean up your hard disk.

Uninstall one or more unneeded programs

If your hard drive is still too full, try un-installing one or more unneeded programs.

Refer to your Windows user guide or Windows Help for complete instructions on uninstalling programs.
