We are seeking a local foundation that would consider funding this program as
follows. We would like to get a small amount of money - say $2500 per pair of
student volunteers - to be granted to the K-12 school technology budget and for
travel support (gasoline costs) for the student volunteers. This money would
be earmarked for spending by the student volunteers. That is, we would like
to give the student volunteers a budget to help them best serve the schools that
they volunteer in. We can foresee this money be used to purchase software (such
as Faronic DeepFreeze to minimize the effects of hacking on school PCs),
hardware (such as CD-ROM drives for back-up where some schools still use tape),
and so on. Having a small budget for the students will also help attract
additional volunteers.
