Welcome to Computer-Aided Design, an international journal on
design engineering, published by Elsevier
Science, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. CAD was founded in 1968,
originally published by Butterworth-Heinemann, to provide a publishing
medium for papers in the area of computer aids in the general process of
engineering design. Today CAD is published in 14 issues per year and
covers such topics as:
- Assembly design and modeling
- Geometric and solid modeling
- Computational geometry and computer graphics as related to CAD
- CAD data exchange, CAD databases and engineering data management
- CAD user interfaces
- Conceptual design, preliminary design, etc
- Design languages and expert systems
- Dimensioning and tolerancing
- Feature based design, feature recognition and extraction, etc
- Finite element modeling and meshing
- Free-form design and modeling, constraint-based modeling, etc
- Genetic and evolutionary algorithms in design
- Layered manufacturing, rapid prototyping, layout design, etc
- Metrology
- NC milling, interference detection, path planning, offsetting, etc
- Network centric CAD
- Process planning, product models, etc
- Simulation and robotics
- Shape modeling, modification, sculpting, etc
- Variational models and design
