Message from the Workshops Chairs

It is our pleasure to welcome you in San Diego and present the PerCom workshops program for 2013. Workshops provide an important extension to the main PerCom conference. They allow for coverage of a wider scope of new and relevant topics. And they provide a more interactive format of presentation and discussion.

This year, we have attracted an impressive number of workshops (12 in total), 11 of which are well established and one is new to PerCom. The former ensures the continuity of research areas especially relevant to Pervasive Computing, and the latter ensures that PerCom remains fresh as a venue that attracts the latest areas of research every year. From our point of view, this represents a good balance, and we expect it to foster discussion and interactions of the highest standards.

PerCol 2013, The 4th International Workshop on Pervasive Collaboration and Social Networking

PerHot 2013, The 2nd International IEEE Workshop on Hot Topics in Pervasive Computing

PerMoby 2013, The 2nd International Workshop on the Impact of Human Mobility in Pervasive Systems and Applications

PerNEM 2013, The 3rd International Workshop on Pervasive Networks for Emergency Management

PerSeNS 2013, The 9th IEEE International Workshop on Sensor Networks and Systems for Pervasive Computing

SENAml 2013, The 5th International Workshop on Smart Environments and Ambient Intelligence

SESOC 2013, The 5th IEEE International Workshop on SEcurity and SOCial Networking

The total number of accepted workshop papers is 97 out of a total of 228 submissions, representing an overall acceptance rate of 43%. In addition, workshops provide high quality keynotes and panel discussions.

We would like to thank the workshop organisers for their excellent job in soliciting and coordinating a great quantity and quality of paper submissions, and for organising high-quality programs. We further thank TPC members and reviewers for their efforts in ensuring the high quality of accepted papers, and last but not least, the General Chair, the Vice General Chair, and the Steering Committee members for their invaluable advice and help.

Finally, we congratulate authors of accepted papers and wish all workshop attendees an enjoyable and stimulating PerCom 2013.
