WIP of PerCom 2013: Work in Progress session at PerCom 2013 - Committees and Welcome
The PerCom conference has reached its eleventh edition. During the past years, PerCom has become the premier event for the pervasive computing research community.
PerCom Work-in-Progress (WiP) session was introduced for the first time in 2006 in order to present and discuss emerging results, novel research questions, approaches, and directions. Specifically, the aim of the WiP session is to provide a forum for early feedback on ongoing research and for discussion of novel, controversial, and thought provoking ideas.
This year WiP has aroused a lot of interest. This has been witnessed by a large number of submissions (41 papers), out of which the WiP Program Committee, composed of 13 international researchers, selected 19 papers. In addition, 3 high-quality papers suggested by the main conference program committee have been invited to present their work in the WiP session.
Thus, I am pleased to present 22 high-quality papers that cover various emerging issues in pervasive computing. It is my sincere hope that the research presented in these papers will be continued and eventually be reflected in full papers at future PerCom editions.
I would like to express our gratitude to the PerCom 2013 WiP Technical Program Committee, namely Franca Delmastro, Anna Förster, Sathish Gopalakrishnan, Sebastian Gutierrez-Nolasco, Brent Lagesse, Nic Lane, Xun Luo, Alan Marchiori, Emiliano Miluzzo, Mirco Musolesi, Bo Xing, Marco Zuniga and Mao Xufei. The committee provided a great help in building up an excellent WiP program.
In addition, I would like to thank the TPC chairs and the TPC committee of the main conference who recommended good candidates for WiP session.
Special thanks go to Jadwiga Indulska as general chairs of the conference, who gave me the opportunity to organize the WiP session, and deeply supported in all the steps toward the final program.
Finally, I thank all the authors for their contributions to form an excellent WiP session.
